Automile’s Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Solution has been certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Field-service businesses can now use Automile to be in compliance with the ELD mandate to easily record and transmit all Hours of Service (HOS) information.
Field service businesses with commercial vehicles have to pay attention, understand the implications of the upcoming ELD mandate to their business and accordingly ensure they are in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Hours of Service (HOS) Regulations. In simple terms, HOS keeps track of the working hours for commercial drivers so they don’t drive beyond a certain limit and also know how much rest they should take between shifts. For more on HOS, you can read this. If you have any questions specific to HOS regulations, refer to FMSCA site.
“We are excited to get Automile ELD approved by FMCSA. We continue to work hard to make lives easier for the field service businesses – whether it is solving for productivity, safety, and/or compliance.”, Jens Nylander, CEO of Automile.
Here is a brief overview of the new HOS feature:
The driver can get “On Duty” status and once they start driving, the ‘Driving Time Left’ clock will automatically start counting down and the app will be switched to ‘Safe Drive Mode’.
Viewing Hours of Service data is a breeze for a specific day and it outlines how many hours have been driven, how much time has been spent taking a break and more.
Change Duty Status – If the driver has to change duty status or even insert a past duty status, they can do that and state whether they are ‘Off Duty’, ‘Sleeper Birth’, or ‘On Duty’ status. They can add notes stating for example what they are doing at that time and auto-update or insert their current location.
Create an Inspection Report (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reporting)
Automile introduced smart vehicle inspections earlier on for anyone who is looking to track vehicle defects and automate that process.
Add An Inspection
If a driver notices a vehicle defect, he can record it easily by simply creating a new inspection, adding the defect along with snapping a picture of it.
Get Notified When Violation Occurs
When it is time for drivers to take a break, the app will automatically notify them.
